"Week of the Young Child" Proclamation
Welcome to the City of Washburn website!
The Spring & Summer Season was kicked off in Washburn with a celebration in recognition of Week of the Young Child May 2nd – 6th. In conjunction with the local school(s), a Parade was held through town to the City Hall Fountain Plaza where Mayor Brzezinski read a Proclamation and the crowd was entertained by various elementary school classes, followed by cookies & drink.

"Week of the Young Child"
The City’s two campgrounds are filling up quickly with camping visitors, and local citizens, their families and various groups are scheduling the Pavilions for graduations, birthday parties, reunions, and various special get-togethers. The Inland Sea Society’s Kayak Symposium, and the Superior Vista Bike Tour, as well as the Paddling-In Outdoor Orientation Trip-Voyageur Canoe events are scheduled. The Annual Brownstone Summer event in July with various events and art shows, dances, and fireworks display is also in the final planning stages.
Various Civic groups such as the Women’s Beautification Club are busy with their display of petunias in the parks along the Main Street and the Washburn Chamber of Commerce and volunteers are building large stand-on-the-ground decorated planters for our street corners and business store fronts. Our Marina and amenities are in full swing.
For the fishing aficionado, the open water has brought some great opportunities for the sport trollers, but the walleye and perch have also been very cooperative. It looks to be a great season for all our outdoor enthusiasts.
We hope everyone enjoys Washburn in the Summer – Lake Superior’s Mediterranean Resort.
