Committees And Commissions
The City of Washburn encourages citizen participation in
government through the means of a variety of committees. Some
serve to provide advice to the City Council, while others
are delegated decision-making authority.

Bay Area Regional Transit Authority
BART provides regional intercity bus service to the communities
of Red Cliff, Bayfield, Washburn, Ashland, and Odanah.
Each participating community appoints one representative to
the BART Board.

Board of Review
Function: Annually examines the assessment roll and
corrects all apparent errors in description or computation.
Membership: Mayor, Clerk-Treasurer, and City Council

Business Revolving Loan Committee
Function: Reviews business loan applications.

Harbor Commission
The City of Washburn Harbor Commission is authorized under Wisconsin Statutes 30.37 and 30.38 to have exclusive control of the commercial aspects of the day-to-day operation of the harbor and its facilities; the Commission plans additional Marina amenities and ongoing capital improvements.
Meetings are usually held on the third Wednesday of each month at 6:00 pm at City Hall. This may be subject to change; call City Hall at 715-373-6160 to confirm.

Historic Preservation Commission
The Historic Preservation Commission is a seven-member commission
organized in 2003 by the creation of a historic preservation
ordinance. Their three main duties are to review and study
historic properties and sites within Washburn for local historic
designation, review applications for Certificate of Appropriateness
pertaining to exterior modifications of buildings on the local
register, and educate the community regarding the benefits
of historic preservation.

Zoning Board of Appeals
The Board of
Appeals shall hear and decide appeals where it is alleged
there is an error in any order, requirement, decision, or
determination made by an administrative official in the enforcement
of the City's zoning ordinances.
